Mountainview Medical Center provides a third level of inpatient care called intermediate swing bed, or long-term care. Even though this is considered to be very similar to a nursing home and has the look and feel as such, we are licensed as a Critical Access Hospital.
Long-term care is available for patients who may have had their skilled swing bed days exceeded and need further care, monitoring or assistance. Patients may also choose to move to the long-term care if they are unable to safely remain at home, and stay here indefinitely. Long-term care may be appropriate for those seeking palliative care or respite care.
Patients or residents of long-term care enjoy coordinated activities, visitation from friends and family, three meals a day with two snacks, and socialization from the staff and community. Patients in long-term care have a higher patient to nurse ratio than a typical nursing home. The facility has a sun room where residents can enjoy the sunshine, plants, and herbs. There is a lovely patio for the warmer seasons where residents can assist with planting and maintaining annuals. The facility has a bus to take residents on rides throughout the county so they can see the seasons change in the country-side.
